EDA Awards $41 Million to a Quantum Tech Hub

(July 10, 2024) In October 2023, the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration (EDA) designated 31 Tech Hubs in regions across the country, including two focused on quantum information science. Now, EDA has announced projects for funding at 12 of the Tech Hubs, including one of the quantum Tech Hubs at an estimated $41 million for:

  1. Constructing open-access quantum labs and fabs to enable rapid prototyping and low-volume manufacturing of critical quantum technologies;
  2. Providing inclusive workforce development programming across colleges, universities, and companies to ensure a skilled and diverse talent pool in the region; and
  3. Coordinating the consortium’s overall strategy, stakeholder and investor engagement, and executive management to execute the Tech Hub’s vision.
